This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from right outside of Cleveland, Ohio. In my classroom, I don't expect my students to have all their school supplies. I don't expect them to have 5 different colored folders with their name labeled on it ten times. Or for them to have a pencil pouch with the cool crayon box.
But what I do expect from my classroom is lots of learning and LOTS of laughing.
Only four weeks into the school year and each of my students have a huge part of my heart. They are smart, kind, and excited to learn! Every day is a new adventure in my room and couldn't imagine teaching anywhere else.
My Project
My kindergarten students have so much energy but they are just tired of the same old worksheets (that I can print free). Being a first-year teacher I want to give my students the world! Currently, we are really focussing on our alphabet and site words and eventually, we will start the beginning process of learning how to read. The whole idea of learning and reading has been so exciting for them.
I don't want their love of learning to ever fade but day after day of worksheets is really turning into a bore.
In my project, I added some fun literacy games, flash cards, a microphone (they can practice retelling stories), and leveled books for them in the future.
The children are so excited for me to start this project and I can't wait to hopefully have some "cool new toys" for them to learn with.
