This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school's in San Leandro, California. We serve a very diverse, group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and celebrate the variety of home cultures that our students bring to our school. We also have a very positive school environment and offer many extra curricular activities, including sports teams and arts programs, to help students discover and explore their individual interests.

My students are fun, high energy, and super social.

They love being challenged, working in groups, and playing hard.

My Project

My students will use these materials to create personal Physical Education portfolios and record their progress throughout the year.

I will be teaching students to workout wisely by guiding them in recording their reps and times in their Physical Education portfolios.

And as they compile more and more personal data, my students will be able to graph and chart their progress over the course of the year. Their ability to monitor and observe their growth helps them understand that they are improving, helps them set personal goals, and helps them foster intrinsic motivation.

Ultimately, my students will be able to apply this same process to their lives outside of school and develop a lifetime commitment to fitness.
