This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a family of 26. We are part of the Bronx community. My students are constantly finding new ways to learn and expand their learning horizons. My students are a bubbly group of students who are deserving of materials that will give them access to more information and challenge their learning!
Learning empowers us, and as my students continue to learn they thrive and see the world in multiple perspectives!
The joy that comes through my students´eyes and smiles when they are learning is astounding. My students have a thirst for knowledge; they are always striving to be better than they were the day before. They are hard working third graders.
My Project
I teach third grade as an ELL teacher (English Language Learner). My new classroom is lacking bulletin boards where I can create a working word wall. A working word wall is an interactive word wall where my students can go up to the wall and take a ring of words back to their seats during writing, which will give my students the independence to write. A working word wall also allows me to start my students off with sight words. As the year progresses, the students end up adding to the word wall and I staple them up, growing my students' vocabulary. This will allow my students to improve their writing as well!
