My Students
My students may come from meager means, humble homes, and fractured families, but they come eager and excited to learn. My Title I school houses students K-8 and provides each and everyone with not only breakfast and lunch but a classroom that serves as a home.
They are not just my students but my family, and each year I am lucky enough to begin a school year with new members.
While my family continues to grow, their needs continue to be met with proper support and dedication.
My Project
Creating a written piece of work may not sound like anything special, however, during a time when instruction and learning is technology centered, using a pencil and paper is often ignored. Writing has become one of the most challenging subjects to teach during distance learning. My typical conferences with my purple pen no longer exist. Instead, a Google document has served as our writing tool.
To make our virtual experience feel authentic, I decided that our typical writing folders and materials could be duplicated for home instruction.
It is my hope that with specific items, tailored to the writing process, my second grade students will be able to experience and practice necessary steps when creating a published piece of writing.
