Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are energetic, curious, and excited about learning. I have 26 students in my class and I believe every single one of them deserves access to high quality educational materials. My school population is 71% low income and about a third of my students are English language learners.
I hope to encourage all of my students to dream, be curious, and let their imaginations run wild.
I hope then they never stop wondering and asking questions. Please help me support our next generation of innovators!
My Project
Some of my young Kindergarten learners struggle to control their bodies and focus on listening or getting work done. I would like to provide them with tools to manage their need for movement while also following directions.
With the use of alternative seating and a little weight, my students will be able to work with their wiggles and put forth their best efforts to learn.
I have requested two jellyfish chairs and 3 weighted stuffed animals to help some of my more wiggly students manage their energy and focus on learning. It will be extremely helpful to have options for students who struggle to sit still at their seats, on the rug, in centers, etc. Weighted animals will also help students to control their bodies while walking down the hallway. Thank you in advance for your support!
