My Students
I teach at a diverse high school in Indiana. Our students come from many different backgrounds and cultures. Some students speak more than one language and were not born in the U.S. Many of our students are striving to to be the first in their families to have a successful education.
Our school is striving to educate all types of learners.
I love that students are willing to get our of their desks, interact with their peers, and learn in unique ways.
My Project
Students need to be active, work together, and not feel tied to their desks; therefore I would like to have problems posted all around the room that students will walk to and complete on clipboards. The colored paper help my students to be organized, keep important documents and use helpful hints to complete work.
Extra calculators are a necessity in math class, students always need this supply to be successful.
I don't want a student to be limited if he/she forgets a helpful calculator tool. Graphing calculators are mandatory in Algebra II and some students cannot handle the cost. The more "loaner" calculators I have in my classroom, the less expense and stress my students require. These calculators require batteries and that's another expense that some students cannot handle, therefore dying calculators cannot be an excuse when I can provide the batteries in class.
