My school is located in a small rural town near the coast of South Carolina. My school is a Title I elementary school serving over 800 students with students receiving free lunch and breakfast. Even though most of our students do not have much, they are kind and generous with what they do have. Our small town was hit hard by historic flooding in 2015 and many still have not recovered fully. Many of our students are without internet during this unprecedented time in education. We have moved to eLearning but not all of my lessons are configured to be done digitally.
Our school may be the largest elementary in our district, but we still have a family feeling and strive each day to make someone else's day just a little better.
My Project
With school closures due to COVID-19, I am having to step back and figure out new ways to present the tried-and-true lessons that I have spent several years preparing. Now that we are using Google Classroom and Google Meet in order to present the new lessons, I must have lessons that can easily be completed digitally.
Given ample time, I could adapt all of the lessons that I have to a Google Slides or Docs but having to quickly get three grade levels of materials adapted, all while still preparing reading lessons also, is taking more time than I have.
Having these prepared lessons from TeachersPayTeachers will enable me to continue presenting new information to my students while giving them a way to easily demonstrate their learning.
