I teach 19 hard working, silly, and amazing 2nd grade students in a small East Texas town. I have been teaching for 16 years and have been a member of ATPE for all 16. I love what I do. My students love to work with hands-on activities, make creative art projects and play games. They do not respond as positively to worksheets or seat work activities as they do to physically manipulating the words, letters, or manipulatives. My students love to work in centers or sing songs to learn new concepts. I strive to make my classroom a fun, safe, and exciting learning environment.
My Project
My 2nd graders love to work hard and earn money to spend or save! In my classroom, we have a class store they can shop from. The students have several different ways to earn money. They can complete homework assignments for money and be rewarded for outstanding behavior.
We need to refill our class store to have new items for the students to purchase.
Each week they will have to decide to spend or save their money. They look forward to going to the store on Friday's to see what is new and available to purchase with their hard earned money! This project would allow us to have pens, notepads, LEGOs, snacks, and other items to purchase.
