I work in a Title I school where there is a limited amount of resources. My students love to learn. I love helping my students feel safe, loved, and supported. Our students work really hard. They stay for after school, and even attend Saturday School to extend their learning potential. School is their safe space. This is also where our students' basic needs are met, like educational resources, heat, and meals. We strive to equip them with the skills, confidence, and temperament they need to succeed.
In Saturday School the students are given instruction, and after that they are provided with a hot, hearty meal.
For some students the meals that they get at school are the only hot meals that they eat. The speghetti sauce, grits and cooking oil will help to put together a meal to provide them nourishment after a long morning of learning.
