I am currently teaching a third grade ICT class with 29 students. My school is a large, Title I school with a diverse student population, serving high numbers of economically disadvantaged students in Queens, NYC. We educate over 1200 students from pre-K to 5th grade. In an ICT classroom we have a multitude of different learning levels and needs. Many of my students do not have access to computers other than in the school setting. My class is exposed to different types of writing and they enjoy publishing their work.
My students are eager to learn new things and have the potential to do so, but need the necessary resources to make that happen.
With the computer lab they will be able to do research and complete different types of writing assignments. Having a few working computers would be a wonderful addition to our classroom.
My Project
My class is in need of a computer writing laboratory.
The students need a diverse computer lab to foster a well rounded learning and writing environment.
This diverse writing lab will have one MacBook and two laptops to fit the needs of all students. The built-in features of the Apple MacBook will help students get organized, stay focused, and learn in ways that fit their special styles and capabilities. The flex laptop will work for children in all writing atmospheres. The chromebook will fulfill the average users research needs and topics. All three laptops will handle the day to day writing and organizing needs of the students.
This lab will be a place where my students can create and edit their writing with precision and passion. The writing lab will allow the students to have quick access to technology when needed.
