My students need a listening station to help with increasing fluency when reading and technological supports to expand their learning experience.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Jackson's classroom raised $641

My Students
I love to have scholars in my class to have various opportunities for self guided learning. I push independence and believe it is important for them to have the space and time to put their learning into action for deeper individual understanding. I want to use more technology to help them grow!
My scholars look like me.
They are smart, funny, independent African American students. They have a love of learning and love to show what they have learned.
The school I teach at believes that all scholars can and will be successful. Every grade level has the goal of creating college ready children, who go on to do amazing things in life. We are in the heart of the South Side of Chicago, where resources can be limited. However, we aim to provide the tools for families and children to thrive!
My Project
Each day, scholars independently rotate through 6 work stations: library, listening, word work, writing, word study and computers. Each station includes individualized activities that are specific to each scholar's needs.
I have requested a sentence writing program and I envision allowing a small group of scholars to work on the smart board to strengthen their sentence structure during the writing work station. My class is also in need of a new listening center, which I have requested. This resource, with a complete set of headphones with allow more of my scholars to enjoy books on tape during the listening station to hear books fluently read to them.
I am very excited about adding the SAM Animation software to our class. This awesome tool will help scholars show their thinking by putting thoughts into action by creating a stop action movie. This is a great use of technology and will allow the class to show the concepts they have learned in a way that aligns with Common Core!
I believe my project will improve my classroom by providing specific Common Core support.
It will change their lives for the better because they will be pushed to dig deeper in their thinking and use their creativity to complete the activities these resources provide.
