Kindergarten is one of the most influential years in education. I teach content areas such as reading, writing and math. I also teach social skills and manners. Kiddos learn about showing good character, too. These are all life long lessons. My students are taught that we never give up. Kindergarten is our happy place!
It takes a big heart to shape a little mind!
We are a Title One District, seventy-eight percent of our families are living at the poverty level. Most of them have no materials at home. They are provided with as much as possible when they enter my classroom. Many of them have never even held crayons, pencils or books. It is amazing to see them learn throughout the year.
Most of my students are just learning to speak English. This is the first time for most of them to be in school. It is my job to create a classroom atmosphere that is welcoming, warm and loving. I plan activities that are engaging by making learning fun. I truly believe that children still need to play to learn in the classroom. I also focus on getting parents involved in their child's education.
My Project
The eight bin cart will keep literacy and math materials ready to go for my little kiddos. It will also help me easily prepare differentiated activities. Each tray will have a different practice activity to review and challenge what we are learning in class. Morning tubs are used each day for students to get busy learning. The students love engaging games and activities. The bins will keep things so organized!
The students will be ready to learn each day by readily choosing their own activity!
Students need to learn to be independent. This is an awesome cart to help them pick something that they will feel interested in. All the materials will be in the bin so that they will be able to get right down to business.
The addition of this cart will make planning for me so much easier. It will also teach choice and independent working. I love seeing a young child being able to choose what they want to work on. The cart will also be a way to keep my life easier by putting the responsibility on each child. This will be so appreciated! The students will be ready to learn each day by readily choosing their own activity!
