Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

First graders are so excited to become learners! They are curious, eager, and active. It is rewarding to see all the learning that occurs at this age. Learning occurs in many forms for first graders. My student benefit from hands-on learning, real life experiences, technology, and self-centered learning. Most importantly, I keep them interested and engaged in their learning. They take pride in their learning and feel proud and take ownership in their accomplishments. First grade is full of growth and rewards!

My Project

My students need four lap desks to give them options for a working space during our daily center rotations! Lap desks are a great option for students to complete independent work! I love to give my students options and choice to complete assignments. One of the choices I offer is seating options during our center rotations.

During guided reading the students are able to choose the activity they want and where they would like to work.

I have scoop rockers, pillows, bean bags, and wobble stools that allow the students to pick an area where they will work best. I am excited to add the addition of lap desks! These desks can be placed on the floor, but allow a hard surface for students to write on or hold materials while they work.
