Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves 6th through 8th-grade students. Our school is a Title I school, where all students receive free lunch. Our students have diverse backgrounds from places in the Bay like Oakland and outside the Bay like Yemen and Mexico. Spanish is the home language of many of our students at UFSA. Our students are passionate learners and thrive inside and outside of the classroom. While thriving academically, many of our students also play for our school's soccer, football, and volleyball team.
There has been an increase in the number of students that have made SRI growth and achieved grade-level goals.
My Project
Having these new prizes (Art cases and activity books) to give our students will create a stronger desire to invest more in reading time at school and home.
I want to support all of our readers and give fun that students can enjoy for a while after working so hard during distance learning!
Students at our school sometimes struggle with reading. This is due to a lack of motivation to read because they are reading two or more years below grade level. Some students have difficulty accessing the English language as newcomers and English language learners.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
