This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students believe grade 5 math is a challenge but they are ready, willing, and able to jump right in and do what they can. During stations time and independent practice time these games will continue to give my students the opportunity to explore fundamental concepts like, place value, multiplication and division fact fluency, and computation strategies. My classroom is a place of learning and fun. My students enjoy learning new math concepts in the class because we relate it to the real world and we have fun, and then students even go home and share the experience with their family members. Every student knows that the math classroom is our playground of learning. Every student has a skill that they want/need to improve. Students will be able to choose their own resource to continue to help them build not only their self esteem level but encourage students to explore difficult concepts.
These games will increase student motivation, help them with problem solving and promote cooperative learning.
My students have already shown an interest in games like "I Declare War", "Dominos", and "Fact Fluency frenzy". This project will only help to enrich their experience.
