My Students
I teach in a Pre K-8 building. Due to the pandemic, attending school looks quite different for them than in previous years. Life looks different.
My students come from low socio-economic households.
Their outside fun comes from the neighborhood playgrounds. Due to the pandemic, their time there has been greatly reduced. For school, their gym time has been greatly reduced. They need their exercise and time to move.
My Project
Due to the current pandemic, school is totally different for the students. They have to sit in the same classroom for 6 hours with no movement. When they go home, they are in their house for the remainder of the day. Currently, some of my students live in a red zone, which means only essential businesses are open around them. This is a hard adjustment for kids.
Help my students workout while learning.
With the desk bike, the students can get exercise, while learning. Due to the small class sizes at the moment, the students would be able to take turns. If or when we do go back to a normal school setting, this bike desk would be used for kids who are hyper active and need to have an outlet. This would help them get their energy out while still participating in the lessons.
