This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm a Speech Language Pathologist. I love language! I help students find and love their words. I joined a Middle School in an urban district, accepting the challenge because I feel so strongly that words matter. Help my students learn to love words.
Because of the timing of my start date, I missed out on the funding opportunities teachers in my district use to get those specialty extras, the games, activities, fidgets, and specialty things that get students excited and add that personal touch to our work.
Elementary school students who went through remote learning are now in middle and high school, unprepared to manage increasing academic demands. They're classified into Special Education and receive speech therapy to help close the gap and support reading and writing skills.
