My Students

All of my art scholars are extremely special to me. They attend a title one school with free or reduced lunch. The students love to add vivid color to their drawings because in art they can make the world as pleasant as they want on their paper. The majority of the students come from a poor background and my school is very diverse. We are a focus school because a lot of the scholars here have low performing test scores which makes us a data-driven school and we have several programs implemented to help our scholars be successful.

My Project

Students at my school have been stressed out an entire year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. A great number of students were taught virtually, while a smaller number came back in person to school in February of 2021 along with teachers. Students, as well as adults, have all been impacted mentally due to the stress of returning to school, some parents lost their jobs, budget cuts for school supplies, etc.

The supplies I have chosen will help lift students' and teachers' morale and spirits by feasting their eyes on vivid paintings and words of encouragement painted on all of the bathroom stalls.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
