Wordly Wise: Lessons in Vocabulary

Help me give my students rich vocabulary instruction using a successful systemic and engaging curriculum.

My Students

My little scholars are sweet as pie with a glimmer of curiosity in their eye. They remind me of a diverse bunch of goodies in a candy store. Each one contributes uniqueness with hope and a mix of creativity. They love learning and discovering the world around them. They are funny and often unpredictable but always inquisitive and wanting to know more.

My students are all residents of DC and receive free lunch.

Although many experience challenges outside of the classroom, they typically attend school eager to engage with teachers and staff. Because of the current pandemic, they are experiencing uncertainty and concern. My students thrive when there is consistency, clear expectations, and when their needs are met.

My Project

The time is now! It is imperative for my 1st grade scholars to be exposed to rich vocabulary during this developmental stage of learning. To support their growth, I am asking for your support. Please help me provide my students with access to a vocabulary focused program that exposes them to words in a colorful, engaging, and realistic way.

My project is requesting two levels of Wordly Wise Vocabulary sets.

Included in these sets are concept cards, student workbooks, and a teacher guide which exposes my scholars to words in both oral and print form. By me using Wordly Wise, my students will receive daily lessons that enhance their understanding of language, words, and their meanings. Because the daily lessons include introducing new vocabulary, making connections with synonyms and antonyms, sentence completion, and reading comprehension, my students will be able to decode words easily.

Vocabulary development is very important. With your help, my students will increase their vocabulary, word knowledge, and strengthen their long term comprehension.
