My students need 4 different word study centers, such as stamp and write sight words, fill in the blanks phonics stamps, vowel teaching tubs, and blends and digraphs teaching tubs.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
You have an opportunity to help us break the code, the reading code! I teach first grade at a school where English is the second language for the majority of students.
Learning about letters, sounds and words is a multi-sensory experience. You need to see, hear, touch and feel them to remember their shapes, sounds and meanings. In my classroom we are doing fine with seeing and hearing but we lack materials that will allow my students to feel and touch objects which represents the letters and sounds they are learning. As well as trace the letters which make up a word.
My students need specific word study centers such as fill in the blanks phonic stamps and teaching tubs that contain objects which represents certain word families and vowels. These centers will give them a more concrete hands on experience with letters and sounds. Which for many students can be the extra ingredient in breaking the code.
Your help will allow my students to use all their senses to unlock the wonderful worlds that awaits them in books. Be apart of our word detective team.
