This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We use the PBIS Initiative to help our little wildcats get acclimated to school-wide behavior expectations. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. ROAR stands for responsible, on-task, aware of self and others, and risk-free. Students earn ROAR points for exhibiting these behaviors and going above and beyond. I see firsthand that when expectations are being followed, more learning takes place.
Our classroom has a PBIS Store where students can spend their points on selected incentives.
However, we ran out of room. I would love to implement a "Woohoo Wildcat" rolling cart to house my students' PBIS prizes. The cart will be organized using clear containers so that my students can easily see what they can "purchase" with their PBIS points.
The items in our cart like the squishies, headbands, toy cars, and more will help furnish the WooHoo Wildcat Cart with things that the students are interested in.
