Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have an awesome group of students who are ready and willing to learn more about the world around them. Living in one of the most diverse zip codes in the country, many of our students come from working families that struggle to make ends meet. In an effort to break the cycle, we provide career-minded education that puts them on the path to college and the workforce. We are proud to have at least a 96% day-to-day attendance rate and an over 95% graduation rate. Our students are on a path to success!
My Project
My Destination Imagination teams are excited to be back to an in-person competition! This year's engineering challenge has them building a tower that can roll down a ramp and then be subjected to as much weight as it can possibly stand.
My teams are determined to crush this year's competition!
We have learned the hard way that the only way to be competitive is to build and crush our own towers numerous times before we find the best designs. In order to do this, they have to go through a lot of wood and a lot of glue.
Additionally, while they are testing their tower, teams have to tell a story about a character who becomes a legend. Kids have to put their artistic skills on display as they create their own props and sets. We've included paint in our request because the art teachers are becoming suspicious about why they keep running out of paint!
