Wood Working With Your Hands

Help me give my students a real experience in woodworking skills by using carving knives in our outdoor Projects class. Students will work with their hands to make something instead of holding a smart phone.

My Project

Our outdoor projects have students in non-traditional physical education class. We started the class this year and have done so many great things around our school. We cleared and built trails. We have partnered with our custodial staff with clean-up projects in and outside the school. We have built an outdoor learning area for school bonfires and cooking area for our outdoor kitchen. We have cleaned staff and school vehicles and cleaned windows and worked on schools' bikes. On rainy days we are looking for something the students could do to continue to work with their hands and create something. Carving knife skills are something they can do for the rest of their lives, and it keeps something than a phone in their hands.
