Fourth grade is the place to be! My students are excited to attend school, because they love to learn new things. It is my hope to build on the natural curiosity my students have and to give them experiences using technology to create oral presentations.
Each student in my classroom this school year brings with them their enthusiasm, their love for learning, and their own unique perspective to our class discussions.
Many of my students feel very confident while playing various sporting activities and even working on different types of assignments alone or with a small group of their peers. They even come up with fun and interesting ways to express their learning. The one thing that seems to be universally difficult for them is making oral presentations.
My Project
Fourth grade is the perfect time for a student to begin learning what is involved in making an oral presentation in front of their peers. I am asking for materials that will allow my students to combine the novelty of technology with their creative side to develop exciting presentations while working on their presentation skills. I am asking for an iPad 2 with a case, two wireless keyboards, three wireless mice and a stylus.
In their assigned groups, students will work together to word process a news script reporting events from the gold rush era. Once the script is written, parts are assigned and the students can find clothing to reflect their role in the script. Using the iPad 2, each news team will film their broadcast and ultimately show it to the class using Apple TV. It is my hope that my students will deepen their understanding of the gold rush era, and develop their confidence and presentation skills when speaking in front of a group.
This high interest project will have a positive impact on my students because it will allow them to combine their love of technology with their high interest in the gold rush era to learn how to give effective presentations in a fun way.
With the help of Lily Sarah Grace fund and other generous donors, my students will have this wonderful opportunity
