Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second year teacher at an inner-city Chicago school. I am preparing for my year and my vision is to have a wonderful writing center for students to come and work at and also take materials back to their seats. I have a table just waiting for quality writing materials. My students often have so much to say but struggle with writing down their thoughts. This writing center would provide them with interesting ways to express their ideas. The center would also be a place for improving their writing skills. They would have practice with sentence structure, grammar rules, and even writing paragraphs. The materials requested cover a broad range and therefore would help my students in so many ways. My students writing skills would absolutely improve if this center was granted to me. My class of 28 students would use the materials in this center a few times a week because the materials can be used in multiple ways. The center would continue to be exciting throughout the entire year because of the quality materials requested. I would feel very fortunate to be able to teach writing skills to my students using the writing center. The center will provide work that the students will be proud of and be excited to share--what more could I ask for?
