Our school is located in a small riverfront community with a population of 1100 people.
We have 153 students in our school ranging from pre-k through 6th grade. We have one classroom for each grade level. Like most classrooms, I have students with varying abilities, attention spans, and backgrounds. These second grade faces are our future, and I want to get technology in their hands so that they will be global citizens TODAY.
My Project
Our students are growing up in a world surrounded by technology. Unfortunately, their use of technology at school is limited to the use of computers once a week for only thirty minutes at a time. With the addition of an iPad, we would be able to extend our reading and math curriculum by incorporating lessons from outside resources with the lessons from our district curriculum. The students would also be able to work on language and math skills in an engaging manner. The iPad would also allow for a more hands-on curriculum, which is extremely beneficial for young learners.
Our students are growing up with technology all around them We need to ensure that they are comfortable and safe when using technology. I teach second graders and I need them to be free to move about the room. For safety reasons, I would like everything to be as wireless as possible. I need an Epson projector ceiling mount so we can safely use a projector in our room without having cords lying around.
Students of today need to be prepared to use technology to learn and communicate.
In our rural district, times are tough and budgets are tight. Our very active Parents Club helps out as much as they can but our needs are greater than what they can do. We are not able to update textbooks and materials very often. Technology can help me, as a teacher, to bring in a wealth of resources and provide exciting, and up-to-date lessons for my students. They deserve the best education we can provide.
