The students at my school come from low-income areas, but each and every one has a dream to succeed! They endure many hardships throughout their home life that no child should ever experience and still manage to come to school every morning ready to learn with a positive attitude! This year I am teaching fifth grade and want to bring life lessons and situations into the classroom. I strive to make future leaders and by provinding real life situations I feel the students will engage and learn at the same time.
My students experience many hardships and and things that happen to them that no child should ever experience. My students come to school everyday despite those hardships and are ready to learn. Many times their lives are so hectic that they miss out of the simple life lessons about how to be kind, accept others who are different and even how to solve real life problems. As a New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters 5th grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. August faces many different obstacles and not only is able to overcome them but also teach others about choosing to be kind to others. Not only will we be using this book in reading and writing but we also will be using the classroom copy of the book called 365 Days of Wonder. This book gives an inspirational message each day for the students to use, write about, and reflect on.
