This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have twenty-six inquisitive learners who come to school every day ready to learn and explore new things. My students come from different backgrounds and all come with different needs. Every morning they arrive to the classroom with a big smile on their faces, ready to learn. They are avid readers and hands-on learners. I strive to provide an environment that is fun, comfortable and full of meaningful learning experiences. My ultimate goal is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them.

My Project

We are learning about diverse women in history who have made a positive impact in our society such as Sonia Sotomayor, Helen Keller, Malala, Dolores Huerta, etc. My students are so curious and want to learn more about these inspiring women. These books will allow my students to learn more about these amazing women and will enable them to start their own research project to find more about all the amazing things these diverse women were able to achieve.

Providing these culturally relevant books for my students will increase the level of engagement and will make our class discussions more relevant and rich for all students.

I want to inspire students with stories of women who were writers, judges, astronauts, scientists, activists, and freedom fighters, etc. Furthermore, I want my students to learn through these books that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
