Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second grade students and I live in a beautiful Southern California coastal city where an increasing number of families within our district are falling into the lower economic levels. Many families find it more and more challenging to spend quality time with their children after demanding work schedules. Despite the hardships and stress, the children arrive at school with a positive attitude and a thirst for new knowledge.
Their eager, smiling faces encourage me every day to give them experiences and opportunities that will last their lifetime.
We encourage each other to be the best we can be by learning cooperation, integrity, respect, responsibility, and independence.
My Project
Fellow teachers and experts agree that giving choices of where and how to sit to kids with attention challenges allows them to focus and concentrate more intently on their task, whether listening to a lesson or completing an assignment. These wobble chairs will add to our existing flexible seating currently in our classroom.
My squirmy, yet very bright and creative students will be able to show their true intelligence while using these wobble chairs throughout the day.
The lightweight construction of the chairs allows for easy placement wherever a particular student chooses to work. My students will feel so proud and be really excited when they and others recognize their efforts and academic achievement that will come while sitting on their wobble chairs.
