For the 2018-19 school year I have been assigned to teach a wonderful 1/2 combination class in a Spanish Bilingual program.
All my students are hispanic English Learners, and 80 % of them qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Have you ever sat in a a long meeting? Trying to pay attention while you crack your back from the pain of sitting on a hard chair. Have you felt the urge of rocking dangerously back and forth in your chair, while others stare at you...? Have you felt that all these distractions take away from the time you spend focused and engaged? That is exactly how some of my students feel while sitting during lessons. Remaining focused is nearly impossible for some of them. Sometimes this leads to kids getting distracted and/or distracting others. I want to give some of my busy students an option in the classroom to safely stay engaged while I address their physical and behavioral needs.
These Kore Wobble Chairs, Bouncy Bands for Chairs, and sensory bars will help my students learn as they move.
It's hard to maintain focus when your body is asking you to move.
Some children do better work if they’re allowed to move at school; not having to focus on keeping still frees up energy for learning. The foot-tapping, leg-swinging and chair-scooting movements are actually vital to how they remember information and work out complex cognitive tasks.
The use of the Wobble Chairs, Bouncy Bands, and sensory bars will make learning possible and fun.
Allowing students to fidget and move during class will definitely help improve their academic performance, and it will help create a classroom environment that is more comfortable for all learners.
