This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Flexible seating can make such a difference in a child's academic life. Just like we adults have different mechanisms that help us focus, so do children. For example, as adults we might be sitting in a meeting while clicking our pens or doodling, to help us concentrate and focus, children do too. Flexible seating helps children do the exact same but in a different form. They may be moving in their seats while working at their desk or listening to the teacher during whole group.
Flexible seating helps children be active physically in their spots in order to be active mentally.
You would be surprised how an accommodation such as flexible seating can so much to benefit students in a learning environment. Traditional seating may work for some children but my goal is to be inclusive and help the variety of needs that I have in my classroom. I've also added a book for me to read to students during our read aloud time. Thank you for your support!
