My Students
Our tiny, rural, Title I school is located in Central New York. My students come from a very tight-knit community, in which most of the families have lived for generations. Despite our small size, we have a diverse population and students come from all different backgrounds and experiences.
I am a career changer who is very excited to be embarking on my very first year of teaching!
It is so important to me to able to provide engaging experiences for my 18 first graders. My students have a true love of learning. I sincerely appreciate your consideration in supporting my students and our classroom. Thank you so much!
My Project
First graders are made to move! My first graders are learning to build their independent work stamina, but their bodies are made for movement. While movement during learning is the ideal, there are times that call for quiet, independent desk work.
These wobble cushions and chair bands will allow my students opportunity for non disruptive movement during those times when we are working at our seats.
As a bonus, the wobble cushions are movable, which means students can use them at carpet time too! A recent study shows that the chair bands help to improve student focus, allow movement when students are feeling sleepy, or a way to get out energy when feeling wound up or anxious.
My first graders all love the couple of borrowed cushions and bands I have now, and I would really love to be able to provide more of them for more of my students to use!
