Help me give my students 6 Wobble Stools so they can 'wiggle' while they work!
This project expired on January 18, 2020.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Did you enjoy just sitting at a desk to learn and do worksheets as a student? Yeah, me neither. My students are the same. They are children who want to learn, but want to do so in ways that are engaging and allow them the chance to get up, move, and work together.
They have an eagerness to learn, and I want to give them the experience that learning can be fun.
Our school is a Title I school, nestled in a rural area of Appalachia Ohio. The majority of my students come from low-income families who love their children and want the best for them, but may not always have the resources to give "extra". At school, I strive to instill a value in their education and to help them see that education is an important aspect of their lives. One component to achieve this is by proving hands-on, engaging lessons that allow the students to work together and get up and move and to see that learning can be fun!
The best part is to see their faces light up when they learn new things and realize that "hey I can do this."
I would like to provide my students with an environment that is tailored to their needs. Providing various seating choices allows them to break away from tradition seating will allow them to take charge of their learning and make decisions on what is best for them.
My students are noticeably more engaged when movement is a part of their day.
Young bodies are built to move, not be still. What better way to help them move than with stools and seating choices that are meant for moving bodies.
I am asking for 6 Wobble Stools to use at my small group table to be used during a time when students need to be completely focused. The Wobble Stools will also be used at other times during the day when students are able to choose their own seat to enhance their learning.
