Wobble While We Work!

My students need wobble chairs to sit on while they are working at our small group table during center time to increase engagement and focus.

My Students

We are a small, public, charter school located in the rural town of Clarksburg in the Sacramento Delta region. Our school family has students in grades TK-6. Our students come from many communities up and down the Sacramento River, which means we serve students from a variety of backgrounds and needs. We provide services to a significant ELL population and a growing Special Education population. We remind our students daily that they are leaders and scholars who will change the world!

My Project

These stools will provide our classroom family with seating around our small group table to meet their needs. Each day during centers, I pull a different group of my learners for our WINN (What I Need Now) time. We focus on language arts topics such as phonics, writing, comprehension, and sight words. These stools will allow them to wiggle and wobble while still learning these important concepts that I am teaching.

We have multiple flexible seating choices in our classroom but we need flexible seating choices to meet their needs at our table too.

This will get double the use because we will use it during our DAILY center time but they can also use them as another flexible seating choice THROUGHOUT the day in our classroom! My first graders thrive on the power of choice for where they will work and learn best during our day.

Flexible seating in our classroom helps with focus, engagement, and social and academic success. Having a variety of options in our classroom will help my variety of learners. I want my students to feel comfortable in their environment so that they can be confident in their environment. Our classroom is truly a place for THEM.
