My Students
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My student are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers and artists.
My Project
I have a class of diverse learners. Many of my students have a difficult time sitting in traditional classroom chairs and at desks for lessons. Offering diverse seating would work best for many of my students who find it difficult to sit and focus on their lessons.
My students are more engaged in their learning when they are moving.
Students in need of sensory learning by tapping their feet or hands, standing, pacing back and forth, and tipping in their chairs during lessons become distractions for other learners. Hokki stools offer my students a way to get the movement they desire to help them stay focused, engaged and safe.
This project will benefit my students with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and students that just need to stay in motion in order to focus. Hokki stools will provide my students with a safe alternative seating while they are learning.
