My Students

My students are from a rural community and attend a small K-8 school. Our school is its own district of approximately 150 students. One of the most amazing facts about the school I teach at is it happens to be the same school I graduated from, and also my dad before me. The building/campus I teach in is the same one I attended way back when!

In a way, so much has changed and at the same time; the students are just the same.

They are lively, energetic, and love to learn! Our school might be small and our budget is too, but that does not mean I do not strive to give my students the very best of everything they need to make their learning experience the best I can. With this DonorsChoose.org project, I will be one step closer to offering my students a comfortable and inviting place to learn.

My Project

My students are a ball of energy on a good day. However, I have a few students who just can not stay seated. These students have special needs, such as ADHD, and when it comes to learning, I find when I can provide them when with a choice of where they can work they can help to decide where and how they work best. A choice of a wobble seat or a fidget band on the bottom of their chair, while they work, will help these students to expel energy so they can stay focused and be involved in their learning day, not worrying about staying seated.
