In an inclusive environment, we encourage all students to be themselves and figure out strategies and techniques that will help them succeed. We focus on finding what works best and how that will help them learn, also known as differentiation. A couple examples of differentiation include setting up learning centers around the room, one to one instruction, and student centered learning. We have five students who are classified. They can be used as a reward or when a student is struggling. The stools will encourage and motivate learners.
Students in our class with Attention Deficit Disorder would greatly benefit from these stools.
It gives students a chance to move around and get some of their energy out as they learn and work in different environments. Our community of students is very diverse and we hope to inspire all children to love learning no matter their needs in the classroom. Our pre-kindergarten through fifth grade National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence helps our students believe in themselves and set them up for a successful educational career. Each student is so special in their own way and wobble stools will encourage them to be themselves and embrace their unique qualities.
My Project
Together, we try to do activities through instruction that allow students to get up and moving. During table work these stools give students the opportunity to stay in motion, but remain focused. When the lesson is being introduced, students using the stools will be able to fidget as they listen and pay attention to instructions. Students are more likely to listen to directions the first time they are given if they are focused. For some, being able to rock on a stool can enhance their listening skills.
Concentration is a powerful tool in a school setting and these stools are the perfect enhancement for my class.
Specifically, these stools allow students with Attention Deficit Disorder, who tend to have restless extra energy, move around during a lesson.
