Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my kindergarteners struggle to sit through whole class lessons on the carpet. I give them the option to sit at their desks, but often they need to be active. Even with frequent water breaks and brain breaks, these five and six year olds need to move. I've tried many forms of flexible seating, but I think these wobble stools will be a huge help to my students.
My colleague has these wobble stools, and one day while collaborating after school, I tried one out.
I thoroughly enjoyed moving my body while working at a desk, so I can only imagine how impactful these stools will be to some of my more active learners, especially those with ADHD.
I plan to give all students the option to try out the wobble stools, while ensuring those who will benefit most have continual access.
