Wobble Stools: Flexible Seating for Rad Reading and Awesome Kids

Help me give my students two wobble stools that will give them more flexible seating options and provide an outlet for the energy of my most fidgety and active students.

My Project

I teach a wonderfully diverse group of mostly ninth-grade students. Many will be the first in their family to attend college, and I'm so excited to help them towards that dream. Last week, I gave my English as a Second Language (ESL) students the challenge to read 30 books independently this year, and I gave my Honors students the challenge to read 40 books. Many, many students are responding to this challenge with enthusiasm and excitement. To be fair, a few are also approaching with trepidation or outright disbelief. However, my students last year read an average of about 27 books, and I'm excited to improve upon that initiative and help this year's students to achieve even more!

We read self-selected novels EVERY DAY in my classroom, and I know that these two wiggle stools (which allow students to move continuously and non-distractingly while seated) will be a lifesaver for some of my most active and fidgety students, particularly during reading time.

All of my students will receive a chance to try out the stools (alongside a couple of our existing flex seating options) to determine if they are the optimal tool for helping them to stay focused and engaged in class. With your help, I hope we can make our room the most student-centered and learning-friendly classroom in the school!
