Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods in California. I want to teach them about the power of their brain. Most of my students don’t have people at home who can help or support them in their educational journey. I want to empower them with the idea that they are capable of learning things that they may feel are too difficult. I want them to enjoy learning and realize that it doesn't have to be in a traditional chair and desk setting. I want them to realize that while it may not be easy, and it may take time, with persistence and effort it is possible to learn more than they thought they could.
My Project
Through very generous donations from participants of Donor's Choose, and book order points from Scholastic Books, I have been able to provide many flexible seating options for my students. Of the options they have to choose from, wobble seats are a favorite for many.
Many of my students struggle to sit still and focus when they are reading or writing if they are sitting in traditional chairs.
Flexible seating is a great way for them to wiggle and work at the same time. While they do have a variety of options we don't have quite enough of the most popular item, wobble seats.
