My students need different seating options, such as wobble stools, comfy floor supports and balance balls so they can focus during lessons or working on their own.
My students are an enthusiastic group of third graders who bounce through the school doors each morning with excitement and vigor and keep me on my toes! They are looking to be challenged, surprised and entertained every day. Their combination of energy, culture, compassion, and thirst for knowledge inspire me on a daily basis. Many of my students have been in the same class since pre-k and have formed a strong bond that is based on respect and curiosity of our differences.
Despite facing challenges at home like poverty and familial distress, my students don't let these obstacles get in their way!
They are motivated in a way that is an inspiration to many. They love to learn, ask questions and aren't afraid to tackle a tough topic, a new subject or learn more about the world around them. They are determined to succeed and do so with smiles, laughter, and purpose!
My Project
Everyday I ask my third graders to challenge themselves academically and socially. While students are pushing themselves to their limits, it is so important that they are healthy and their needs as growing humans are met. Developmentally, it is difficult for students to sit still at their tables, desks or on the rug for long periods of time.
With seating designed to accommodate kids and their need to wiggle, students spend less time trying to get comfortable and more time engaged in lessons, learning and working.
Wobble stools, cushions, back support for floor work and balance balls will give my students a choice of seating that is comforting and allows them to move and sit more naturally while in the classroom.
