Help me give my students wobble chairs! Our class meets the last half hour of the day which is a challenging for 7 year olds. Continous movement while sitting relaxes the right side of brain and improves focus.
My students are eager to learn! They come to class with smiles on their faces and are active participants in lessons. They never give up, even when the task is challenging. I admire their enthusiasm.
Despite their enthusiasm and effort, reading is still difficult for my students.
This group is reading over a year below grade level. So, they are participate in Wilson Reading, an intensive decoding intervention to help them reach their goal of reading on grade level by the end of the year.
Wobble Chairs increases secondary focus. Continuous movement while sitting relaxes the right side of the brain, leading to better focus. They provide students an outlet to move around without distracting other students.
Research shows movement, when channeled correctly, can actually enhance learning.
Children actually need to move to focus during a complicated mental task. The Wilson Reading program requires students to be focused 100% of the lesson; therefore, allowing students to move during the lesson will improve their attention.
It's hard for kids to sit in a traditional classroom chair all day long. By the end of the day, they are wiggly and loose focus easily. My students especially need to concentrate and these chairs will help.
