I teach a primary (grades K-2) self-contained Autism class in Henderson, Nevada. My students are bright, inquisitive, and curious. They continue to make huge growth in learning appropriate versus inappropriate behaviors and those really important learning to learn behaviors.
My students benefit greatly from small group or one-on-one instruction.
In order to meet these needs, they are broken into groups which accommodate both their special needs as well as their amazing abilities. They rotate throughout "centers" between my aide and I, as well as complete independent tasks.
My Project
My students require small group instruction and are broken into various centers in the classroom throughout the day. We currently use yoga balls, traditional chairs, a bilbo rocking spinner, and bean bag chairs as various seating options throughout the classroom. Adding the wobble seats to our classroom will allow my students more choices in their seating options. My students have trouble with sensory processing, and the use of the wobble seats will benefit their sensory integration and increase their focus.
