Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Second grade is such a critical year for many students. There is always a wide range of levels and abilities in my classroom. I have students that are still working on fluency skills, as well as students who are already reading chapter books!

My students all contribute different talents and skills to the classroom and learn from one another every day.

They all know that no matter where they are in the learning process we focus on helping each other move forward, instead of slowing each other down.

Second grade is where we start to shift the purpose of language arts from learning to read, to reading to learn. That is a huge step! Every day, we build relationships, encourage each other to follow directions, and learn to interact with each other in a kind way.

My Project

These wobble seats will help my wiggly students that struggle with Attention Deficit Disorder work better at their seats because it will help them let their wiggles out as they work.

When a student is able to move while working, they are able to focus and become more engaged in learning!

We have started using flexible seating in our classroom this year. Many of my students have had previous teachers that implemented flexible seating, so I feel that this is the year to start! We are looking forward to having different ways to sit and move while we are working at our desks.
