This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Walking into our school, you will find a diverse group of kids. Many of my students are English language learners, which means they are learning how to read, write, and speak English.
Our classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.
We are a Title I school, and our whole school gets free breakfast and lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn the skills necessary to be ready for middle school and beyond.
My Project
Imagine all students happily engaged in reading books around the classroom. Many students have a love of reading, and it is easy to sit still and read a book.
However, for some students it is a challenge to focus and engage in reading.
That is why I am hoping to provide a wobble chair for these students. Wobble chairs help students channel their energy and increase their concentration.
In addition, I hope to give them high interest books at their reading level in order to help increase their comprehension and love of reading.
