This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school in one of the largest districts in our state. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom, but they don't let that stop them! Despite the many challenges they face, students come to school ready and excited to learn.

Our school serves as a home away from home for students from hardworking bilingual families who need just a little extra support to be successful.

Being their teacher means being someone they can count on to listen to them, to love them, and to understand. In second grade, students are beginning to develop a love for learning as well as the key skills needed to build a strong foundation for their future. We read, play, and grow together. With your help, we can do even more!

My Project

This year I have such a sweet, HIGH energy group of kiddos that struggle when faced with sitting in a chair or on the floor. So I would like to add in another option to help with some of the wiggles I see through out the day with some wobble seats! These chairs will be used specifically by my students who struggle to sit still. The wobble feature of the seat still allows them to wiggle but in a way that helps them to focus! Some of their extra energy will be used to help keep the chair straight allowing them to focus better in class!

My classroom is no different. Each of my students learn in their own way and having another seating option is just one more stepping stone I can offer them to succeed in our classroom! These wiggle chairs will be the start of some flexible seating options for my second graders.
