My Students

I have the opportunity to work with 22 third grade public school students. My students are a diverse group of curious and creative kids who are equally interested in reading a good book, delving deep into history or current events and exploring the how's and why's of science and technology.

My school is diverse not only in terms of socioeconomics, culture and linguistics, levels of literacy and technology proficiency but also in exposure to real-life hands-on science learning experiences.

It also has a wide range of individual learning needs.

The beautiful thing about my students is that because of their diversity in experiences and needs, they are an extremely kind group of kids that reach out to support one another and build each other up as a team.

My Project

Students that have a need to move, will be able to do just that while sitting, and completing assignments. They can engage their core to help stabilize themselves. This engagement is often just what their mind needs so they can focus on the work, or task they are given to complete.

Another really important benefit of having a couple of these stools in my classroom would allow for flexible seating.

This flexible seating would allow students a choice of seating depending on how they are feeling at the time the assignments needs to be worked on or completed. Student choice is empowering to them.
