My Students

Our school is part of the No Excuses University program. We strive to teach all of our students that after high school comes college. Each classroom has adopted a university, which builds an incredible community within each classroom. Our students become invested and proud to represent their college. This is a great way to educate our students about different colleges around the United States.

I teach 25 amazing first grade students at a Title 1 school.

They each bring something unique to our classroom. I have a few students who are English Language Learners, some who receive speech services, and a few students with special needs.

All of my students come in each day eager to learn and with smiles on their faces. I have a classroom full of artists, scientists, avid readers, and leaders.

My Project

Every child that walks through my door is unique. With that comes the need for different seating for every learner. Having flexible seating will make a big impact in my classroom. Sitting in a standard chair for a good chunk of the day is a thing of the past. Students need to have a choice in their seating.

Teaching 25 first graders comes with a lot of wiggling and movement.

I have seen the impact these seating options have on kids and it is amazing. Students who can't sit still and focus on learning now have the opportunity to be the best learner they can be. Flexible seating gives these students not only a choice in how they want to sit to learn, but a chance to get the most out their learning.

At our school there are several classrooms that have flexible seating. This shift in their seating options has helped improve their classroom environment. I know that this will really help my children be the best learners they can be.
