Hurricane Florence tried to harm us and statewide low performance levels tried to close the doors to our school, yet we press on!
My school had one of the lowest performance levels in our entire state last year.
This year a new innovative district, new staff and teachers have all banded together to make a difference. These changes come along with teachers working nine hour shifts and then volunteering to assist with after school tutoring.
The 20 students in my classroom are amazing and hungry to learn. After spending a few weeks as their new teacher, I realized that many have the inability to stay focused, especially for such a long school day. A Wobble Chair will help them increase their secondary focus. Many of my students are diagnosed with ADD, and ADHD and distraction is the number one enemy to take them off task.
Hurricane Florence took away crucial learning days away from my kiddos. Wobble chairs provide continuous movement which relaxes the right side of the brain, leading to better focus. These chairs will assist them in their journey to learn.
My Project
The Wobble Chairs allow for movement, which increase the ability for my students to focus. Each child will be awarded a chair and will pass it on to the next generation as they graduate. These children come from a impoverished area and as a start up school, funds are not available. These brave students attend school for 8 hours each day and then attend an afternoon tutoring session to try to catch up with their education.

The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out.
