This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school was established in 1928, and has been serving a small community for many generations. It is my 21st year teaching, and I had an awesome experience of teaching my former student's daughter in my class a couple years ago. My current aide is also my former Kindergarten student.

My school is a Title I school, where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.

Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language.

After teaching 17 years in Kindergarten, I am back in 2nd grade this year. I'm excited to teach students who will be able to do so much on their own; collaborating, researching and working independently to be innovators!

My Project

I recently got an activity table funded for my classroom. Now my challenge is that I don't have chairs for this table. Instead of getting regular chairs, I would like to get some fun wobble chairs for this activity table for my students to move and wiggle while they work.

These chairs give opportunity for my students to be more active and get their wiggles out instead of sitting still all day.

I have some wobble chairs that I use for another table and rug time, and my students tell me how much they love sitting on these chairs. We just need some more!
